All torn up.

Gareth Pugh dress making process

I came upon these videos a few days ago through Silent Doe and i am incredibly inspired. Being a designer myself, i love to see other designers creative process. It makes me rethink how i make garments. I go through the "how do i think outside the box" stage. Plus i love the music playing in the back of the first video. Now i just want to know how Gareth Pugh originally came up with his process for slashing the fabric.

Are any of the SomedayNewYorker readers artists? What is your design process and how do you get inspired?

P.S. Im, SomedayNewYorker, is having a Memorial Day weekend sale Friday through Monday. 25% off everything in the store. Plus when you buy 2 or more items you get free shipping to anywhere in the world.

Flower petals.

Zooey Deschanel Lulu Magazine Issue #4.

You can always count on Zooey Deschanel to bring the perfect amount of inspiration when planning summer wardrobe. This spread is perfectly whimsical yet completely wearable and attainable. My favorite outfit has to be in the photo above. The Erin Fetherston skirt is adorable and perfect in every way.
What are your spring and summer staples?
I am personally all about the leggings this spring/summer. I hated them when they came back as a "trend" a few years ago but now i love them. They are a basic in my mind. Something every girl should have.

Technicolor ride.

Sasha Pivovarova for Interview Magazine February 2010.

The above photo has to be one of the most inspiring photos that ive seen in awhile. All of the elements are perfect. The foil, tape, rainbow tulle....everything. Also, the dynamics of the spread are perfect. Nothing overshadows any other element. The clothing has so much color so the hair is tattered yet simple and the makeup is completely nude.

Here is the debut single from NightBus, a London based band. They have recently signed with Interscope and they are quite good. Great style and a great vibe.

Winged Creature. Jeremy Scott X Adidas 2010

Jeremy Scott X Adidas 2010

I know its a little late but Jeremy Scott has designed another collection for Adidas. Im sure everyone remembers the winged sneakers and the fleece leopard hoodie from the the 2009 collection. The last collection was so fun and quirky that this collection feels a lot more sharp and clean. A very fresh feeing. My favorite pieces definitely have to be the silver shoes below and the tank top featuring a picture of Jeremy Scott. I love to see designers who have the ability to stay true to themselves yet reinvent themselves each season. Then the consumer can never get bored.

Wackness Mackness

Laura Mackness Fall 2009 Collection

I am absolutely in awe of these garments. The collection was designed by Laura Mackness and presented during the Central Saint Martins London fashion show. The designs are quirky, innovative, and of course fun. I love it when you there are unique pieces that arent fussy and quite simple. Animating eyelashes and smiles on kneecaps, hands and eyes on boobs. Its very refreshing.

How do you feel about the new trend of "drawing" on clothing? Simple silhouettes with illustrated fabrics.
